All Reception children are carefully "paired" with a Year 6 buddy to help guide them through their early days at school. Other joiners will be introduced specifically to named friends in the same class. These buddies and friends will ensure that the new child finds playmates during break and lunch, knows where facilities such as toilets are, as well as other practicalities.
If SEND needs are known in advance, information will be shared with appropriate staff. We have strong links with our local playgroup to ensure transition occurs smoothly, with plenty of opportunities for visits to the school in the term preceding admission.
If needs are behavioural or social in nature, information will also be shared with midday staff.
