Science
In Kingswood Primary School, we want to make Science real, letting the children feel and see the Science around us! We want them to know they are Scientists in their lessons.
We feel that the key to developing the children's passion for Science, is by making the lessons as practical as possible. Therefore, we love planning experiments and hands-on activities as this makes Science engaging and real! To do this, we look at the work scientifically aspect of the National Curriculum. Through this, the children develop key skills such as, asking questions, making careful observations, performing tests, recording data to help answer questions and many more key skills.
Our curriculum is designed to have a clear vocabulary progression so that children are able to accurately use relevant scientific language.
Where possible, we use our wonderful Forest School sessions to link to our learning of Science in the real world.
Also, we are lucky to have strong links with our local secondary school, Katherine Lady Berkeley. Every year, we visit their laboratories for a 'Science Fayre' and take part in some extremely exciting experiments. Also, we are lucky to have the Year 12s visit us in school during the school year to run experiments across the school - bringing alive class Science topics.
