Creating Magic

This has been a very exciting week because we have started work on our new library! This will be created in the room that used to be my office. I have now moved to the front reception office, and am enjoying the hustle and bustle of visitors coming and going, along with regular visits from the children!

The photograph in this blog does not represent the finished article, but is an example from another school that we are using for inspiration. So far, one of our volunteers has painted the walls green. This weekend, during our Volunteers Day on Saturday, we are hoping to complete a second coat of paint on the walls. We have discovered that there is a wooden floor underneath the carpet, so we plan to sand this and then add a huge artificial grass rug to the floor, along with a woodland mural on one of the walls.

Our next job is to transform the bookshelves into a magical forest theme, and build a huge indoor tree. The creative nature of this project is bringing great joy to the adults involved. We also cannot wait to have a room in school that will allow the children to fully immerse themselves in the world of reading.
