As you may know from the lockdown whole school homework we are, again, taking part in the National Gallery’s Take One Picture project. The feedback from the pupils about the painting (The Battle of San Romano by Paolo Uccello) was that they were particularly curious about the central figure (Niccolo da Tolentino) and his flamboyant hat. With this in mind we have decided to make hats the starting point for our work this year. Specifically we are thinking about hats that tell us something about their owners.
If any adult you know has a hat that is special to them, tells people about them or was awarded to them we would be very grateful if you could share their story with us. We were hoping to welcome guests into school to talk about their hats but as this is currently not possible we hope that they will either:
· Share a photograph and explanation of their hat’s importance in the form of a letter or email
· Lend us their hat with an explanation.
· Record a video about their hat.
